How to Change Mail From Microsoft Outlook to Windows Mail

Windows Mail is a software application bundled with the Windows Vista and Windows 7 operating systems. This software takes the place of Outlook Express, the email client included with Windows XP. If you use Microsoft Outlook as your email client and wish to move to Windows Mail, you can easily move your email account and import the emails you've already downloaded from Outlook to Windows Mail.

Instructions

1. Start Windows Mail by clicking on the application in the "Start" menu.

2. Open "Tools" > "Accounts" in the menu bar.

3. Click "Add," then select "Email Account" and click "Next."

4. Follow the step-by-step instructions to add your email account to Windows Mail.

5. Start Microsoft Outlook by clicking on the application in the "Start" menu.

6. Open "File" > "Export" and select "Outlook Express" as your export type. Save the file where it can easily be located.

7. Switch back to Windows Mail and click "File" > "Import." Select the file you just exported from Outlook and click "Open." This will import your saved emails from Outlook into Windows Mail.
