How to Create a Web Photo Gallery With Fireworks Cs3
Creating a slide show of your pictures is a powerful way to display them as a web photo gallery for family and friends. Fireworks CS3 is a bitmap and digital graphics editor included in the Adobe Creative Suite package. Fireworks utilizes Flash technology to build an image gallery in which you can display photos. The program uses pre-made flash players to display images complete with decorative transitions, captions and borders. By using the installed "Create Slide Show" program in Fireworks, a web photo gallery becomes something anyone can design.
Instructions
-
-
1
Open Adobe Fireworks CS3 on your computer. Locate the icon on your desktop for Fireworks and double-click on it, or navigate to the "Start" menu by clicking the "Start" button in the bottom left-hand corner of the desktop. Find "Adobe>Fireworks CS3" or "Adobe Creative Suite>Fireworks CS3". Click on "Fireworks" to open the program.
-
2
Move to the top of the screen and select "Commands" from the software menu. The software menu is the main list of functions that sits vertically at the uppermost part of the screen.
-
-
3
Choose "Create Slide show" from the options under "Commands".
-
4
Click on the "+" sign in the "Album" section of the "Create a Slide Show" screen.
-
5
Locate the images on your hard drive that you would like to include in your photo gallery by using the "Open File" dialog box.
-
6
Navigate to the "Images" section of the slide show screen. The "Images" section is located on the lower left-hand side of the "Create Slideshow" screen. This will allow you to type in captions for the photos if you wish. Click on the "Caption" line next to each image and type your text.
-
7
Move to the "AlbumBook Properties" section on the right side of the screen. Type in a name for your slide show in the first text box, then fill in a description of the slide show in the second text box.
-
8
Choose a flash player from the drop-down menu under "AlbumBook Properties". The flash player set up is a preset group of designs for the slide show. You can select any option from that list for your presentation. For example, the "Silver" player will have a metallic background.
-
9
Click on the tab for "Album Properties" and select the options you would like for the presentation. For example, you may choose to use thumbnail images or distinctive backgrounds for pictures.
-
10
Press the "Filters" tabs to edit or clean up any images as needed. The "Filters" tab is the fourth tab on the right side of the "Create Slideshow" screen. This option will correct colors or enhance the images. Follow the on-screen instructions to apply filters.
-
11
Move to the "Slide Show Properties" tab. This establishes the timing of your presentation. Click on the "Up" or "Down" arrows to adjust transition intervals and display times for images. For instance, one option you can select is how long you would like an image to remain on the screen before the next one loads.
-
12
Export your slide show via the "Export" tab. Clicking this tab will open a dialog box that allows you to save the presentation to your hard drive. Move to the first text box and type in a name for the slide show. Navigate to the bottom of the "Save" dialog box and press the "Save" button.
-
13
Make any further adjustments to image size. The program allows you to resize your images for the slide show, so you can choose how big you want each image to be on the screen during the presentation. For example, if you want your images displayed in a 320 x 240 format, type that information into the appropriate text box. Understanding the proper size will take some trial and error. The program will offer a default solution, probably 320 x 240. If you are unsure which size you need for the images, stick with the default. Once you preview the slide show, you can go back and make changes if needed.
-
14
Move to the "Create" button at the bottom of the screen and press it once you are happy with the image sizes.
-
15
Press "Create" to initiate processing of the slide show. After completion, Fireworks gives you the option to preview the show in your browser.
-
16
Upload the show to your web page host by following the directions provided for creating Flash, web pages or photo albums. This step will depend on the specific methods used by your page host.
