How to Change the Headlight of a 1987 Lincoln Town Car

The headlights on your 1987 Lincoln Town Car use a sealed headlight. This type of headlight is a large headlight bulb that has a filament inside the headlight but does not use a separate headlight lens on the main assembly. When the headlight on your Town Car finally burns out, replacement headlights can be purchased from most auto parts stores. It's a good idea to replace both of the headlights when they burn out.

Things You'll Need

• Replacement sealed headlights
• Phillips screwdriver

Instructions

1. Open the hood and unscrew the screws that hold the retaining ring on the back of the sealed headlight unit.

2. Pull the headlight forward until you can see the electrical connector that provides power to the headlight.

3. Unplug the electrical connector running to the headlight and remove the headlight.

4. Slide the new headlight into place and reconnect the electrical connector.

5. Secure the headlight with the retaining ring and mounting screws using the screwdriver.
