How to Troubleshoot the Color Bars on a PC to TV Game Box from K-World

K-World's PC to TV game box let's you play computer games on your television set or console games through your computer's monitor. And because there are many different setups in which to incorporate your game box, you'll likely run into distortion or color bars across the screen from time to time--especially if you have to constantly alter, add or remove items in your setup. However, there are some things you can do to rid your setup of color bars and similar display problems.

Instructions

    • 1

Switch the input channel, using the channel selector on the back of your K-World game box. If the distortion is present on the next channel, then the problem is the game box. Hit the reset button, if your unit includes one. If your unit doesn't have a reset button, then you will need to perform a manual power-cycle.

    • 2

Power-cycle your game box. Hit the power switch on the front the unit and turn the power off. Disconnect the power cable from the back of the unit for approximately 30 seconds. Reconnect the power cable and switch the power back on.

Check your video card's display settings on your computer to ensure that your selected refresh rate and resolution is compatible with your game box. You'll need to reference the data sheet for your model on the K-World Support page. (See Resources)

Check that the antennas are securely connected to the antenna ports on the receiver and transmitter unit, if you're a wireless K-World PC to TV set. A poor connection or bad reception can cause color bars and distortion. Adjust the antennas or move the two units closer to each other for better reception.
