DIY Camping Hammock
Hammocks are relaxing, and far more comfortable than sleeping on the floor when camping during warm weather. A hammock can even be closed around you, cocoon-style, when you're sleeping to protect from mosquitoes and other insects. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- 4 to 5 yards canvas, or other medium-weight fabric
- 2 10-foot lengths of rope
Instructions
-
-
1
Gather each end of the fabric and tie in an overhand knot.
-
2
Tie an overhand loop in one rope leaving a large loop. Wrap the loop around a tree or other support and pull the loop end through the tied end. Arrange the rope so that the tied end is behind the tree.

3
Pull the long loop end toward you. Put your hand through the loop and grasp the rope, then pull the looped part over the top of your hand. This will give you an opening to slide one knotted end of the fabric through. Pull the fabric to close the loop behind the knot securely.

4
Repeat with the other rope and the other end of the fabric.
