Removal of a Stain from a Couch
Stains must be removed quickly to avoid becoming a permanent part of the fabric. It can be particularly heart-breaking if something is spilled on a beloved piece of furniture, such as a couch. Fortunately, there are ways to remove even the most stubborn of stains. Baking soda, for example, acts as a natural stain remover, while laundry detergent (without bleach) also removes stains without damaging the fibers. Does this Spark an idea?
Things You'll Need
- Baking soda
- Water
- Measuring cups
- Bowl
- Spoon
- Vacuum cleaner with attachments or hand vacuum cleaner

Baking Soda

Pour 1/4 cup of baking soda into a bowl. Add 1/8 cup of water. Stir together with the spoon to create a paste.

Using your fingers, wipe the paste onto the stain. Allow it to sit for 15 to 20 minutes.

Massage the paste into the fibers of the couch fabric.

Allow the paste to dry, then vacuum it off of the couch.
Laundry Detergent

Pour one tablespoon of laundry detergent in a bowl. Add one cup of water. Stir vigorously to agitate the soap.

Dip a cloth into the soapy water. Gently blot the stain with the cloth, according to Clean and Gone's website.

Wet a clean cloth with water. Wipe the area off with the wet cloth.

Leave the wet spot alone to dry.
