How to Use a Physical Memory Dump to Fix Windows

A physical memory dump refers to an error that results in a full crash of the computer system, whereby the information contained in memory is "dumped" to the hard drive in order to prevent loss. You can induce a physical memory dump to clear your computer's RAM, potentially alleviating system instability and other issues. This is possible through a keyboard shortcut in your operating system.

Instructions

1. Exit out of all running programs to minimize the chance of data loss.

2. Hold the right "Ctrl" key on your keyboard.

3. Press the "Scroll Lock" key twice. This will induce a memory dump, restarting your computer.
