Instructions

    • 1

Remove the blinds from the window. Removal instructions will vary depending on how the blinds are affixed to the window frame. A screwdriver may be required to take down the blinds.

    • 2

Lay a couple of old towels on the bottom of your bathtub. This will prevent scratches to both the blinds and the tub during cleaning.

    • 3

Place the dirty Venetian blinds in the bathtub on top of the towel. Place a couple of squirts of dish soap into the tub and fill it with enough warm water to cover the blinds.

    • 4

Let the blinds soak in the tub for 30 minutes. Run a soft rag along each of the blind slats. Make sure to clean along the top edge of the blinds.

    • 5

Flip the blinds over. Clean each slat again with the soft rag.

    • 6

Drain the water from the bathtub. Rinse the blinds thoroughly with plain water from the shower. If you have a detachable shower head, this will come in handy for rinsing the blinds.

    • 7

Place the blinds outside to dry. They can be hung over a clothesline, fence or laid on a picnic table to dry. If you cannot lay them outside to dry, hang them over a shower rod or lay them on old towels on the bathroom floor to dry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Clean your Venetian blinds weekly by vacuuming them with the hose attachment on your vacuum cleaner. Once a month, clean the blinds by putting an old sock over your hand and running it along each slat.

  • Wear rubber gloves when cleaning Venetian blinds to protect your hands from the sharp edges of the blinds.
