How to Convert a MOV to a WMV Online for Free

Convert .mov to a .wmv online for free.

Apple Quicktime files, called .mov, can be converted to a .wmv, which can be played in Windows Media Player. This is a common conversion since you are dealing with two of the primary video file formats that are directly related to the two most popular operating systems, Mac and Windows. There are plenty of sites that handle this type of conversion for free without downloading software.

Instructions

1. Save your .mov file to your desktop. This is the easiest place to find a file.

2. Open a browser and go to Zamzar, Media-Convert or Media Converter web pages (see Resources).

3. Hit the "Browse" button if you choose Zamzar. Choose .wmv in the drop down box and enter your email in the appropriate field. Hit the "Convert" button.

4. Click the "Browse" button at the top of the page if you choose Media-Convert. Find your .mov file and click "Open". Choose .mov in the drop-down menu to the right of the browse button. Choose .wmv in the "Output format" drop-down menu and click the purple OK button.

5. Click the "Upload a file" button in Media Converter. Choose the file and click "Open." Click the "go to the next step" button. Choose .wmv in the drop down box. Click the "OK" button. Hit the "OK" button on the next page. Hit the "Start" button, wait for the conversion and hit the "download" button to save the new file to your hard drive.
