How to Uninstall a Program I Can't Find

If you have installed a program and the computer is not responding well to it then your first instinct may be to remove the offending program. This works fine when you can find it. Sometimes the files can be corrupted and even hidden. If you don't know where they are on your computer, removing them via the Add/Remove Program function can prove difficult. Thankfully, there is another way that doesn't require you to locate the program at all.

Instructions

    • 1

Click on "Start," "Programs," "Accessories" and then "System tools."

    • 2

Choose "System Restore" from within the system tools menu. This opens the system restore program.

    • 3

Select a restore time that is prior the time you installed the program. Click "OK" and the system automatically restores the computer to that point, removing from your computer all files and programs installed after that point in time.

Tips & Warnings

  • This works for all versions of Windows from XP onward.
