Audio devices can be connected by using USB computer ports.

A computer typically has only one audio-in and audio-out port, allowing only one microphone and headphone/speaker set to be connected at a time. However, if you want additional audio hardware connected to the computer a USB connection adapter can be used to convert the 3.5mm line-in/out port to a USB data port. This doubles the amount of audio connections a computer has through one USB connection.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect the USB connection of the 3.5mm adapter into an empty USB port on the computer.

    • 2

Switch the control button on the adapter to "Line-In," then connect the computer microphone into the 3.5mm connection port. This sends the audio into the computer from the microphone.

    • 3

Change the control button to "Line-Out," then connect a pair of headphones to the 3.5mm port. The audio from the computer will play through the now-connected headphones.
