Prepare the information that you'll need in order to check your tax refund in Canada. The information you'll need is basic, but it is required in order to gain access to the information about your tax refund. Be sure to have your social insurance number, date of birth and total income amount ready. The total income amount can be found on line 150 of your tax return.

Call the Tax Information Phone Service number to check on the status of your refund. The number to call for this service is 800-267-6999. You will be able to access this service from February to December of any given year. If you would rather speak to an individual, you may call the Refund Enquiries service at 800-959-1956.

Check your status online. This is an alternative method you may use to check your tax refund status. The website you'll need to visit in order to check your refund is the official Canada Revenue Agency website (see the link in the Resources section). On the website, visit the "Quick Access" page. Click on the "Sign In" button in order to get started. This service is available 6 a.m. to 3 a.m. EST Monday through Saturday and 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. EST on Sunday. If you are unable to sign in, check back during the indicated time.
