How to Create Worship Service Powerpoint

How to Create Worship Service Powerpoint thumbnail
Many churches use PowerPoint in their worship services for their members.

Many churches today offer audio visual aids during their services to enhance the congregation's worship experience. PowerPoint slide presentations can play an important role in providing hymn and song lyrics, Bible scriptures, prayers, movie clips, sermon imagery and announcements of interest to the members. Much preparation goes into a weekly service, and depending upon the church, there may be a formal order of worship or a casual service with a less structured format.

Instructions

    • 1

Start PowerPoint on your computer. Note the new, blank document that opens, and use this as your introduction slide. Click on the "Click to add title" box and enter a welcome line, such as "Welcome to X Church," if desired. Choose a large type size, such as 60 points. Click on the box that says "Click to add subtitle" and enter the date of the service.

    • 2

Select an appropriate background or template that fits your service or congregation. Right-click on the slide and scroll down to "Format Background." Select "Solid," "Gradient," "Picture" or "Texture" to change the background. Alternatively, select a pre-made template created specifically for worship.

    • 3

Create a new slide for each portion in the order of worship, where applicable. Click on the "Click to add title" box, then choose a large type size for the headline, such as 60 points. Type a headline for any elements such as "Prelude," "Salutation" or "Call to Worship," following the precise order from the approved, printed copy. Click on the box that says "Click to add subtitle," then choose the appropriate sub-text under each headline, created in a type size of 40 points. Keep text lines to a maximum of 5 for each slide for readability.

    • 4

Insert hymns and songs in the order they are to appear in the worship service by following the same method used in "Step 3." Create the song title for the first slide of the song in 60 point type in the "Click to add title" box, then insert the lyrics in the "Click to add sub-title" box. Select 40 points for the type size.

    • 5

Create the sermon portion of the PowerPoint by following the pastor or preacher's script. Emphasize scripture or important points in the sermon by adding biblical text, imagery, quotes or pictures. Use a large type face, 40 points or larger, for text.

Complete the order of worship by creating slides for "Offertory," "Benediction" and "Postlude" where applicable.
