How to Apply for Section 8 in Arizona
Section 8 housing gives low-income families the opportunity to live in apartments and other housing that they may not have otherwise been able to. If you are accepted into the Section 8 program, you will be asked to pay rent for your home that equals 30 percent of your family income. Social Security as well as all wages and tips from your workplace will be counted toward your total family income.

Visit the Housing Department website, (See Resources). This website will provide basic information and guidelines for those who may be eligible for Section 8 housing. Be sure to read through the "Eligibility Criteria" section to determine if your family qualifies.

Download the application. The application is in PDF format, so you will need the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader to download it. You will also need access to a printer. If you do not have a printer, most libraries will allow you to print out documents for a small fee.

Fill out the application. This application will ask basic information about you and your family. The questions on this application include those about your name, address and total yearly household income. This application must be filled out by any individual or family interested in Section 8 housing. This is a pre-application that is used to determined if you are qualified for the program. If you are, you will be put on a waiting list. When housing becomes available, you will be notified by phone or through the mail.
