How to Check the Status of a Tax Refund in MD
Maryland residents can check on the status of their state tax refund using one of several methods. Maryland's state income tax is handled by the Maryland Comptroller's Office. Checking on the status of your tax refund gives you an estimated date that you will receive your tax refund. Gather you tax return documents. You'll need to know the exact amount of your tax refund for verification purposes. You'll also need your full name, address and social security number.

Visit Maryland's online tax refund status tool to check the status of your refund online. Type your social security number and tax refund amount into the box. Click "Check Status" to view the status.

Call the Maryland Comptroller's Office to check the status of your tax refund by telephone. The toll-free number is 1-800-218-8160. The representative will ask you to verify your identity by providing personal information.

Email the Maryland Comptroller's Office at "taxhelp@comp.state.md.us" to check on the status of your refund by email. Include your full name, address, social security number and tax refund amount in the body of the email.
