How to Mount an Over-the-Range Microwave Oven
Installing an over-the-range microwave oven involves three steps--performing the electrical work, placing the mounting plate, and mounting the oven. Installation types can include an outside top exhaust; an outside back exhaust and re-circulating. Mounting the oven follows the same procedure for all three installation types. Thread the power cable through the hole in the bottom of the top cabinet. Be careful not to pinch the cord. Lift the oven and tilt it forward. Hook the slots at the back bottom edge of the oven onto the two lower tabs of the mounting plate.

Rotate the front of the over-the-range microwave oven up against the cabinet bottom. Screw a self-aligning screw through the center of the top cabinet with a screwdriver and temporarily secure the oven by turning the screw two full turns from the point at which the threads engage. Try to keep the power cord tight at this point to avoid snagging.

Attach the oven to the top cabinet. Insert two self-aligning screws through the outer top cabinet holes. Secure by turning each screw two full turns.

Tighten the center screw completely.

Tighten the outer screws completely.
