How to Fix the MSN Auto Sign Out

Microsoft's Windows Messenger software is bundled with Windows XP and, like MSN Messenger, allows you to chat with friends on the MSN network. Because the two applications both use Microsoft's .NET passport, Windows Messenger is able to sign in with your MSN account information, even if you've only used MSN Messenger. If Windows Messenger starts, it will sign into your MSN account and automatically sign you out of MSN Messenger. You can change your settings to fix this automatic sign-out issue.

Instructions

1. Start the Microsoft Windows Messenger software.

2. Choose "Tools" from the menu bar, then select "Options."

3. Click the "Preferences" tab and uncheck the box next to "Run Windows Messenger when Windows starts."

4. Click the "OK" button to save your settings. Windows Messenger will no longer start automatically and sign you out of MSN Messenger.
