How to Mount a Winch on a Polaris ATV

There are many different models of Polaris ATVs, but the process of mounting a winch is almost always the same. The wiring process will be completely different on every model. On some of the Polaris ATV model, the front face plate will need to be removed in order to gain excess to the front metal frame bars to which the winch will be mounted. This is a job that any amateur who has a basic knowledge of the Polaris ATV can complete.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the front face plate bolts using the ratchet set if the Polaris ATV has the face plate. Locate the metal frame bars on the front of the ATV.

    • 2

Place the winch frame on the bars and connect the mounting brackets around the top metal bars. Slightly tighten the brackets using the ratchet set. Repeat for the bottom of the winch frame. Tighten all of the mounting brackets using the ratchet set as tight as you can with your hands.

    • 3

Place the winch onto the winch frame. Make sure that all of the mounting points on the winch line up with the mount points on the frame. Insert the metal securing bolt into the support holes on the winch and push them through the holes and into the winch frame.

    • 4

Connect the metal securing nuts to the ends of the securing bolts on the winch. Tighten the bolts and nuts using the ratchet set as tight as you can using your hands.
