Comcast is primarily known as a cable television provider, but they also provide high-speed Internet service. If you use Comcast high-speed Internet, but you are experiencing slower than normal Internet speeds, you may want to check your Comcast Internet speed to see if the actual Internet speeds match the advertised speeds.
Speedtest.net
Open your Web browser and go to Speedtest. This site measures both download and upload speeds.
Click "Begin Test" located near the top of screen. Wait a few seconds for the test to complete.
View your Internet speed results. You'll see separate results for download speed and upload speed displayed in the middle of the screen. These are shown in megabytes per second (Mb/s).
Compare your results with advertised Comcast results.
CNET Bandwidth Meter
Open your Web browser and navigate to the CNET bandwidth meter.
Enter your area code, connection type and Internet service provider in the box in the upper-left corner.
Click the "GO" button to start the test.
View the connection speed in the graph provided.
Compare your results to Comcast's advertised speed.
Speakeasy Speed Test
Open your Web browser and go to Speakeasy speed test. See "Resource 3" for a link to the site.
Select any location from the list of servers on the left side of the screen.
View your results. Both download and upload speeds are displayed.
Compare your results to Comcast's advertised speed.
