How to Find My USA Visa Number thumbnail
The U.S. visa is placed inside a traveler's passport.

A U.S. visa is a document that is placed inside the passports of foreign citizens who wish to travel to the United States. There are two types of visas: an immigrant visa for those who want to live permanently in the United States and a non-immigrant visa for those who are traveling to the United States on a temporary basis. There is a lot of important information on a U.S. visa, including many different numbers, which may be confusing when trying to find the actual visa number.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your passport and look at the front side of your U.S. visa.

    • 2

Locate the red number in the bottom right-hand corner of the visa document. This is your U.S. visa number.

    • 3

Contact the U.S. embassy or consulate in your area if you have misplaced your visa and need to find out the number. You have to apply for a replacement in person, with a police report that documents your lost passport and visa. See the resources section for a list of U.S. embassies and consulates.
