How to Configure the Microsoft Loopback Adapter to Be the Primary Network

The Microsoft Loopback Adapter is a tool that can be used to test the virtual network environments over a server. The adapter helps fix any problems caused with other network adapters, network clients, configuration items or protocols. Before configuring Microsoft Loopback Adapter you must make sure that it is fully installed on your computer and that you have administrative access. You must use the IP address of the primary network you are using with your server to be able to complete the configuration process.

Instructions

1. Click the “Start” button, “Control Panel," then “Network and Internet Connections."

2. Click “Network Connections” on the right navigation pane. Right-click on the local area connection for your Microsoft Loopback Adapter and click “Properties."

3. Click the box next to the “Virtual Machine Network services” field so that it’s selected. Click “Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)," then “Properties."

4. Click the “General” tab, t hen “Use the following IP address." Enter the IP address for your primary network.

5. Click “OK” and then the “Close” button. The Microsoft Loopback Adapter i snow fully configured as the primary network.
