How to Make a Model Resume

How to Make a Model Resume thumbnail
A model resume gives casting directors insight into a model's experience.

Modeling is a career that demands a significant amount of advice from previous models to avoid scams and embarrassment from coming off as inexperienced. Making a model resume helps to show casting directors the training a model has received and the modeling gigs she has booked. A model resume is similar to an actor resume, but the difference is that the model resume highlights fashion and print work. A model can brand himself by putting together a well thought-out resume.

Be honest with the measurements listed on the resume.

Pay close attention to the heading of the resume. Using bold type, center the model's name at the top and include the name the model goes by in work. Some models have stage names or go by their first name only; this is the name listed on the resume. The right side of the heading lists the model's address, telephone number, and e-mail address. According to BestSampleResume.com, a model should create an e-mail address just for her resume (see references). The left side of the heading lists a model's height, weight and measurements, as well as hair and eye color.

List experience under the heading by separating gigs booked into the type of work it was. Subdivide the model resume into sections for film, television, theater, fashion shows, and print work. Examine samples of model and actor resumes to understand how a subdivided resume should appear (see resources). Do not list extra work on a model resume to avoid appearing inexperienced. Keep information current; provide information about college plays but not elementary school plays.

Be prepared to perform the special skills listed on the model resume.

Highlight special skills, awards, and training at the bottom of the resume. Special skills can be anything that a casting director might find interesting when finding a model for a gig. If the resume lists that a model can sing, he should be prepared to sing a song for the casting director. The same goes for a resume that lists dancing as a special skill. Awards can be any award won in college and awards that a film won in a festival. Training should list the teacher who taught the class and the city in which the class was held.

Staple the model resume to a fashionable headshot, and cut off any extra paper on the edges. A fashionable headshot might be more digitally enhanced with Photoshop (photo editing software) than a regular headshot. Avoid too much makeup and extravagant hairstyles in the fashion headshot. Casting directors want to see what they can do with a model by seeing what she looks like with bare skin and natural hair.
