How to Make IE Your Default Browser in IE7

Internet Explorer 7 is the default Web browser for Windows Vista. By default, Internet Explorer is the default Web browser for all versions of Windows. Installing other Web browsers (such as Firefox or Safari) can cause this setting to change. This method for switching Internet Explorer 7 to be the default Web browser also applies to some later version of Internet Explorer.

Instructions

1. Click the "Start" icon in the Windows taskbar. Click "Control Panel."

2. Click "Network and Internet" if you're using Windows XP. Click "Internet Options" if you're using Windows Vista or Windows 7.

3. Click the "Programs" tab and then click the "Make Default" button in the Default Web Browser section.

4. Click "Apply" to confirm the changes. Click "OK."

Tips & Warnings

• If you already have Internet Explorer open, you can access Internet Options more quickly by clicking "Tools," and then clicking "Internet Options."
