Belts are one of the accessories used to enhance clothing and express yourself through fashion. A stylish belt is a great way to quickly update just about any look. And what better way is there to show off your true colors than to create your own custom leather belt? Let your creativity guide the way to transforming the boring belts in your wardrobe by dyeing them yourself at home.

Apply nail polish remover to a soft bristled brush and scrub the entire length of the belt until all the dye has been removed. Rinse the belt with cool water and let dry.

Apply shoe leather dye, your color choice, to the belt. Some brands come with an applicator. If you do not have an applicator, an old sponge will do just fine. Thoroughly read the instructions for theparticular dye product you are using. Apply multiple coats to achieve a more vibrant shade. Allow to dry at least one hour between coats.

Hang the belt to in a dry, well-ventilated area for at least 48 hours. Wipe away any excess dye that may have gotten on the hardware of the belt before wearing.
