How to Find a Notary in Maryland
As defined by the National Notary Association, a notary is a "public servant appointed by state government to witness the signing of important documents and administer oaths." The notary serves as a witness to important documents (such as affidavits, power of attorney, titles, etc.). Getting documents notarized helps to prevent fraud (by having a government-appointed witness present), and ensures the documents are, as the NNA's website says, "properly executed." If you're looking for a notary in Maryland, a quick look at the Secretary of State's website will help you find one close to you.
