How to Become a Real Estate Broker in Indiana
To become a real estate broker in Indiana you must first become a real estate salesperson and perform the duties of a salesperson for one year. To qualify for a license in the state of Indiana a person must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of Indiana, and have no convictions on her record. An applicant for a broker's license may apply for the license prior to the expiration of the one year requirement but will not be given the license until the requirement is fully met.

Enroll in an Indiana-approved real estate course. You are required to take 54 hours of pre-license courses. You can find a list of approved schools on the State of Indiana, Professional Licensing Agency website. You cannot take the licensing exam without completing the required 54 hours.

Apply and sit for the Indiana real estate salesperson licensing examination. The state of Indiana has contracted with a company called Pearson VUE to administer their licensing examinations. You can apply to take the examination at Pearson VUE's website.

Apply for the Indiana real estate salesperson license. You will need your real estate school completion certificate, your original scores from Pearson VUE, a completed Indiana Real Estate Commission Application for Licensure as a real estate salesperson or broker, and a personal check or money order in the amount of $35, as of 2010.

Perform the duties of an active real estate salesperson for at least one year.

Attend and pass an Indiana-approved real estate broker pre-license course.

Take and pass the Indiana State Real Estate Broker examination.

Apply for your Indiana Real Estate Broker's License. You will need proof of passing the exam and a personal check or money order in the amount of $60, as of 2010.
