How to Prune Cherry Tomato Plants
Cherry tomato plants produce small round, cherry-sized tomatoes. Cherry tomato plants are easy to grow, do well in most climates and produce a lot of tomatoes. Pruning the cherry tomato plant will allow the plant to have more sun and produce more tomatoes. Pruning cherry tomato plants also reduces the risk of disease to the plant. Does this Spark an idea?

1
With your clean pruning shears, cut back any dead branches to the main stem of the cherry tomato plant. Clean pruning shears reduce the risk of transferring diseases from other plants that the shears may have been used on.
-
2
Cut off the side shoots or suckers from the cherry tomato plant with the pruning shears. Side suckers can make the plant weaker because they can lower the sugar concentration.
-
-
3
Cut off excess leaves with the pruning shears. If there are too many leaves growing, the tomato plant might not be getting enough sun for healthy growth.
