Recent search items often display in your web browser.

The empty text box where you type in a search term is treated as a form by your web browser. By default, form entries are often stored on your computer via the web browser. Furthermore, when you attempt other searches, recent search terms often pop up inside of the search form. In order to remove these items, you simply need to clear your browser history, including all form entries.

Instructions

  1. Mozilla Firefox

      Open Mozilla Firefox on your computer.

      Click "Tools" at the top of Firefox. Select "Clear Recent History."

      Choose a time range from the drop-down menu for which to remove history. Select "Everything" if you want to clear all search items.

      Click the check box next to "Form and Search History." This is the item that stores your recent searches.

      Click the "Clear Now" button. All recent searches are removed from your browser's history.

    Internet Explorer

      Launch Internet Explorer on your computer.

      Click the "Tools" menu at the top of Internet Explorer. Select "Delete Browsing History."

      Click the "Delete Forms" button and then click "Yes" when presented with a confirmation window.

      Click the "Close" button and your recent search items are removed.
