How to Adjust a Shoulder Holster
A shoulder holster is used to carry a handgun and magazines so they are positioned to the side and under each arm. Law enforcement and some civilians may choose to use a shoulder holster. Most commonly, a jacket or coat is worn over the shoulder holstered gun and magazines to provide a concealed carry option. It is necessary to adjust the shoulder holster so that the gun is located at a position that is easy to access if needed.

1
Place your unloaded pistol in the holster and loaded magazines in the magazine carriers. This will help to balance the shoulder holster rig while you are making adjustments.
-
2
Put on the shoulder holster so that the holster and magazine carriers are beneath your arms. The center adjustment point should be centered on your back and up toward the shoulder blades. The holster should be located on the opposite side from your dominant hand for a cross draw action with the magazine carriers on the opposite side.

3
Adjust the strap on the holster so that it is located three to four inches below your armpit. Loosen the strap by adjusting a slide buckle, removing and centering Velcro or relocating a snap. The method will depend on the type of holster you have.
-
4
Repeat the process to lower the magazine carriers to a position where they are level with the pistol holster. Recheck both the carriers and holster to make sure they are secure in place.
-
5
Adjust the holster straps so that the front of the gun grip is two to three inches from the front of your arm. This will help in retrieving the gun from the holster. This is typically done with a sliding buckle.
