How to Adjust the Headlight Alignment on a 1999 Toyota Tacoma

Adjusting the headlights on your Toyota Tacoma only needs to be done when you replace your Tacoma's headlights and the new headlights do not come pre-adjusted from the factory. The headlights on your 1999 Tacoma use two adjustment screws on the headlight. Both screws control the horizontal adjustment of the headlight. There is no screw that controls the vertical adjustment of the headlight, as it is fixed.

Instructions

    • 1

Park your Tacoma 25 feet away from a closed garage door so that it is facing the door.

    • 2

Turn on the headlights and shine them onto the garage door.

    • 3

Open the hood. Locate the two adjustment screws near the top center corner of each headlight. They will be covered by a small round cap. Pull the cap off with your fingers to adjust the horizontal adjustment of the headlight.

    • 4

Turn the adjustment screws until the center of the headlight is positioned at the bottom of the garage door where the door meets the ground.
