How to Open a Corrupt PDF File
Over time, computer files may become corrupt. This is often due to the file being saved incorrectly, a virus destroying part of the file or the specific file being saved to a bad sector. Whatever the reason, the only way the corrupt file (such as a PDF file) can be accessed again is through a file recovery program. Many programs exist with the primary function of recovering files.

1
Open Recovery Toolbox. The program is available through the RecoverToolbox.com website. Once the program loads click the "Browse" tab next to "Source file name PDF" and select the corrupt PDF file you want to recover. Click "Analyze," then "Save File." Once the process has finished, a new PDF file is created. Double-click the PDF file and the PDF reader installed on the computer (such as Acrobat Reader) loads the document.

2
Load Advanced PDF Repair (available through PDF-Repair.com). Click the "Search" option and choose the corrupt PDF you want to open. Scan the document, then choose a location for a replacement PDF to be made (such as the desktop or "My Documents"). Click "Recover" and the corrupt PDF is recovered.
