Wild roses are beautiful, easy to care for, and come in a variety of colors---making them an ideal addition to any garden. However, in order to achieve optimal results, it is important that wild roses are pruned from time to time. Keep some basic guidelines in mind in order to ensure maximum growth. Place the pruning shears in a bucket containing equal parts of water and bleach. This solution will protect your roses from diseases and insects.

Cut off any dead, damaged or diseased branches. In addition, remove any thin, weak branches, or wood that appears dead. Finally, use the shears to cut off any branches that cross each other, or that grow horizontally from the center cane.

Cut off all other long, gangly branches by at least one-third.

Tie the wild roses to a trellis or fence, and cut off any branches that don't easily fit into the pattern created by the trellis.
