How to Scan Photos to a CD
Digital photography has all but eliminated the need to scan pictures from a film camera onto a CD. However, you may have a number of older photographs that you'd like to save in digital form. Once the images are scanned and stored to a disc, you can view and share them from your computer or create a multimedia slideshow. This process is fairly easy but can be time-consuming, depending on the number of photos you want to import.

1
Open your scanner and lay a photo on the bed. Align the photo with the inside top corner of the scanner. Change the scanner setting to scan to at least 300dpi, but not much higher. This will offer a high-quality resolution without hogging disc space.

2
Close the scanner bed. Create a folder on your desktop called "Photo CD" or a name you will remember. Press the "Scan" button on the scanner and allow the photos to scan. When prompted to choose a format to save the file as, select ".jpg" and save it in the folder you created. Repeat this step for as many photos you want to scan to a CD.

Insert a blank CD-R into the disc drive and open your CD burning software. Choose the option "Create Photo CD" and select the "Photo CD" folder you created in Step 2. Click "OK" and select "Burn CD."
