Internet Explorer is the default Web browser that comes installed alongside the Windows 2000 operating system on your computer. If you'd like to upgrade Internet Explorer to a newer version, you can use Windows Update. This utility will search for updates to Internet Explorer that are compatible with your Windows 2000 machine and then download and install them automatically.

      Click "Programs."

      Click "Windows Update."

      Click the hyperlink that is located on the left side of the main Windows Update window that reads "Check for Updates." Once the update check has been completed, check the box next to any upgrades that are available for Internet Explorer. Then, click "Install" to upgrade your copy of Internet Explorer to the newest version that will work on your machine.
