1
Put on rubber gloves and safety glasses for protection from the bleach solution. Wear old clothes, too, as small amounts of bleach solution may touch your clothes during this process, leaving bleach spots.
-
2
Carefully fill half a clean glass or plastic spray bottle with laundry bleach and fill the rest of the bottle with water, as suggested by Naturalhandyman.com.

3
Open a bathroom window for ventilation, or at least keep the door open if there is no window. Shake the spray bottle a couple of times to mix the solution and then spray the mildew.

4
Allow the solution to sit on the walls for five minutes. Wet a sponge and wipe a mildewed area. If the mildew stain has already gone, or wipes right off, wipe down the rest of the walls with the sponge. You may need to rinse the sponge often if you are cleaning a large area.

5
Dry the walls with a white towel (white so that it won't fade if any bleach remains on the walls).

Tips & Warnings
Prevent mildew from recurring by running a fan (an exhaust fan or regular box fan) in the bathroom to keep the air drier. In addition, keep the door open and wipe moisture from walls, using a soft towel, after showers or baths.
Never use bleach solutions with cleaners containing ammonia as this creates toxic gas.
