How to Format a Resume for an Electrician
If you decide that becoming an electrician is the right career choice for you, the first thing you need to do if obtain the proper education and training. You may then complete an apprenticeship program or internship to gain relevant, on the job experience. Once you're ready to apply for a full-time job as an electrician, you'll need to create a professional resume that shows a potential employer you have the necessary requirement to work as an electrician.

Type your name at the top of the page. You name should be center aligned to help it stand out.

Type your contact information under your name, including your physical address, city, state and ZIP code, phone number and email. This information should be center aligned and listed on separate lines under your name.

Create a section for your "Objective." This should be left aligned, and the section heading should be in bold font. The rest of the text on your resume should be left aligned, and all your section headings should be typed in bold font to help them stand out. Under the "Objective" section, type your professional objective, such as "Seeking a full-time position as an electrician for a construction company."

Add a section to list your "Qualification." This section should include specific skills and traits you have that are relevant to the position you're applying for, such as ability to work in a fast-paced environment, learn things quickly and work with plumbing and heating fixtures. Include three to five items.

List your professional experience. For each position, list the company you worked for and the location on the first line, your title and dates of employment on the second line and three to five bullet points under each item. The bullet points should explain your general job duties and the responsibilities you had. What you list will depend on the type of electrician job you're applying for. For example, if you're applying for a position as an electrical engineer, you would include responsibilities such as designing electrical systems, performing short circuit calculations and visiting sites to ensure they adhere to all standards and codes.

Add a section for your "Education and Training." This should include any degrees you've earned, as well as other professional training, such as apprenticeships, internship programs, certifications and licenses. For each item, list the affiliated company or institution and the location on the first line and the degree, certification or license you received and the date on the second line.
