How to Send a Foreign Fax thumbnail
Send documents to foreign countries quickly with a fax machine.

Globalization has encouraged business relationships between companies at opposite ends of the world. It is important for these companies to exchange information necessary to achieve mutual goals. Email is a fast method of communication but it is not always convenient, especially in situations when business partners must receive signed copies of documents. In such cases, the fastest solution would be to fax the documents. The process is similar to sending faxes locally, except for the addition of access and country codes.

Instructions

    • 1

Type a cover sheet. Your cover sheet must contain, at a minimum, your name, your fax number, the contact's name and fax number. It will also be useful to the recipient if you include the number of pages you are sending so he can alert you to resend if he receives less.

    • 2

Place the cover letter on top of the documents you are sending so it is the first page your contact receives. Place the cover sheet face up. The documents you are sending should also be face up under the cover sheet.

    • 3

Insert the documents and cover sheet into the appropriate slot in the fax machine. The papers should go in, top edge first, so that they are upside down. They should also face the back of the slot. Refer to the fax manual for specific information for your machine.

    • 4

Press the "Speaker" button and wait for a dial tone. Enter the access code, country code, city code and fax number for your contact. For instance, if you are sending a fax to Beijing, China, you would dial:

011 -- The number you must dial before you can make a call outside the United States
      86 -- China's country code
      10 -- Beijing's city code
      Contact's local fax number

    • 5

Wait for your machine to connect to your contact's machine. You should hear a high-pitched sound when the machines connect.

    • 6

Press the "Start" button to begin sending your documents. At the end of the process, your fax machine will print a report to let you know whether it transmitted the information successfully or not.
