Instructions

    • 1

Put the springform pan together. Open the side buckle of the pan and position the bottom of the pan inside the expanded side of the pan (often you will find a groove at the bottom of the side of the pan where the bottom fits). Carefully hold the bottom of the pan in place while you fasten the side buckle. Fastening the side buckle will tighten the sides of the pan around the bottom of the pan.

    • 2

Fold a square of paper towel into a square that will fit easily in your hand. Pour a small amount of oil or place a small amount of butter onto the paper towel square. Rub the oil or butter onto the inside edges of the springform pan to coat them lightly.

    • 3

Cut a circle of parchment paper that will fit exactly into the bottom of the springform pan and place it into the bottom of the pan. Cut a 3-inch-wide strip of parchment paper and line the inside edge of the springform pan with it.

    • 4

Lightly oil or butter the parchment paper with the paper towel.

    • 5

Pour the cake batter into the springform pan. As long as you buckled the side securely around the bottom of the pan, the pan should hold the cake batter without leaking. If the cake pan leaks, you did not buckle the side onto the bottom properly and you will have to pour the cake batter out and readjust the bottom and re-buckle the side.

    • 6

Bake the cake in the oven according to your recipe directions. Remove the cake when it finishes baking. Allow the cake to cool on the cooling rack for five to ten minutes.

    • 7

Unbuckle the side of the springform pan to release the edges of the pan from the cake. Pull the pan edges away from the cake and set them aside. Peel away the parchment paper strip from the edges of the cake.

    • 8

Lift the cake by the bottom of the springform pan and place it onto a serving platter. Serve the cake directly from the bottom of the pan. Wash the bottom of the pan when you finish the cake.
