How to Convert .MDB to Filemaker Pro

Save

Microsoft Access and Filemaker Pro are two of the most popular database programs among PC users. However, the .MDB files that Access creates are not compatible with Filemaker Pro. You must export the data from Access into an Excel spreadsheet and then import the Excel file into Filemaker Pro if you want to convert information from an Access database to a Filemaker Pro database.

  • Open the Microsoft Access database you want to convert to Filemaker Pro.

  • Go to "File" in the top menu bar and select the "Export" option.

  • Select "Microsoft Excel 97-2003" from the file type drop-down menu, and choose where you want to save the exported spreadsheet.

  • Check the box next to "Save formatted," and then press "Export" to convert the Access data into an Excel file.

  • Launch the Filemaker Pro application and open the database you want to use to import the data.

  • Open the "File" menu, expand the "Import Records" submenu, and choose "File."

  • Highlight the Excel file you just exported from Access and then press "Open."

  • Choose the table to which you want to add the Excel records and then press the "Import' button.
