Poinsettia Garland
-
1
Cut a strand of 2-inch wide wired Christmas ribbon equal to the desired length of the garland.
-
2
Cut silk poinsettia flower blossoms from the stems. You'll need enough flowers to span the length of the ribbon garland leaving a 1- to 5-inch space between each flower blossom. A ribbon garland made with smaller flower blossoms looks best if the space between each flower is 1 to 2 inches. A garland made with large flower blossoms looks best with more space between each flower.
-
3
Glue the flower blossoms along the length of the ribbon garland with hot glue. Make sure that the flowers are evenly spaced. Allow the glue to dry completely before hanging the garland.
-
4
Wrap the flower and ribbon garland around the Christmas tree, over a doorway, along a mantel or around a stair railing. Double-sided tape works to attach the ribbon garland to wood, plaster or drywall. To hang the garland around a tree, stitch a string loop onto each end of the garland.
Poinsettia Wreath
-
1
Unroll a 6-inch section of 2-inch wide unwired Christmas ribbon from the spool. Do not cut the ribbon. Attach the loose end of the ribbon to the back side of a foam wreath frame with a straight pin, pushing the pin into the wreath frame.
-
2
Wrap the ribbon around the wreath in a spiral, overlapping the edges so that the frame is covered. Cut the ribbon from the spool when the wreath is completely wrapped. Pin the end of the ribbon to the wreath with a straight pin.
-
3
Trim 4- to 6-inch tips of silk balsam fir greenery. Attach the greenery to the front and the sides of the wreath with hot glue. Do not cover the wreath; the greenery is part of the background, along with the flowers. Five to seven silk balsam fir tips spaced around a 12-inch diameter wreath is sufficient. If you prefer more greenery, add it.
-
4
Cut five to nine silk poinsettia flowers from the stems. Glue the flowers to the wreath between and among the silk fir tips. Space the flowers according to your personal tastes. As with the greenery, add more flowers if you prefer.
-
5
Glue a premade Christmas bow that coordinates with the original ribbon used in this project to the bottom of the poinsettia wreath.
