How to Block an IP from a Website thumbnail
Block an IP from your website by using the features provided in the cPanel website control panel.

If you are running cPanel, a popular website user control panel, on your website, you can block an IP address from accessing material on your website. This process will only take a few minutes, and it may save you trouble in the long run caused by undesirable visitors.

Instructions

    • 1

Log in to your cPanel control panel. cPanel is generally located at yoursite.com/cpanel. (Replace "yoursite.com" with your website address.)

    • 2

Click on "IP Deny Manager," located under the "Security" tab.

    • 3

Type the IP address that you wish to block into the box. If you would like to block a domain, simply add the domain address into the box. cPanel will automatically attempt to locate the IP address of the given domain. Click the "Add" button.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you use a control panel other than cPanel, contact your web hosting provider for details on how to block an IP address or look for documentation for your control panel, which is usually located on the control panel's official website.

  • You can use an asterisk in the IP address you decide to block in order to specify a range of IP addresses. For example, if you would like to block IP 0.0.0.0, you may type 0.0.0.* in order to block any IP that starts with 0.0.0. This means you will also block IP addresses such as 0.0.0.1 and 0.0.0.2.
