How to Remove Window Stickers From Autos

How to Remove Window Stickers From Autos thumbnail
Get that window sticker off your car by using heat.

Like bumper stickers, window stickers are one way drivers can personalize their vehicles. However, if you buy a vehicle with someone else's personalization, or just outgrow the message you were giving to the world, you will probably want to remove those window stickers. While the glue that keeps window stickers on will harden over time, it's possible to get that sticker off in no time at all.

Things You'll Need

  • Hair dryer
  • Extension cord
  • Plastic spatula
  • Window cleaner
  • Lint-free cloth

Instructions

    • 1

Plug a hair dryer into an extension cord and run the cord to an outdoor outlet near your car. You should be able to easily move the hair dryer over the entire surface of the sticker.

    • 2

Turn the hair dryer on and place it about an inch above the sticker. Fan the hair dryer over the sticker until the sticker starts to bubble. This means the glue that is holding the sticker in place is beginning to melt.

    • 3

Scrape the sticker off with a rubber spatula. Keep working to remove as much of the sticker as possible.

    • 4

Spray the window with a glass cleaner. Wipe it clean and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try to do this in a shaded area. The sun beating down on your car will make it a bit harder to remove the sticker.

  • Don't use anything metal or coarse on your window (e.g., metal brushes or razor blades) to remove the sticker as this can cause scratches on the window.
