How to Copy Shows on a Direct TV Recorder to a PC
Some DirecTV satellite receivers are equipped with a built-in digital video recorder for recording shows that can be watched at a more convenient time. The DVR contains a hard drive similar to the storage device in a computer and, like a computer, the DVR can fill to capacity over time. Connecting the DVR to a separate PC makes it possible to download recorded programs onto the computer so they can be deleted from the DVR. The connection requires a PC with a video capture card installed in the tower and standard AV cables.
