      Dig a hole 18 to 24 inches deep where you would like to place your mailbox.

      Place the mailbox post in the hole at a straight angle.

      Fill the hole with dirt. You will need to brace the mailbox post to keep it from falling. Use a helper or boards as braces.

      Pack down the soil every few inches as you fill the hole so that the dirt is packed hard and the mailbox will be secure. Use a 2 inch by 4 inch board for this.

Tips & Warnings

  • Mailbox posts can be buried in concrete for extra security.
