You can remove the rear speakers in your Pathfinder.

Your 2000 Nissan Pathfinder came equipped with speakers in the rear door from the factory. Over time, these speakers can deteriorate and wear out, requiring replacement. And even if they're working OK, replacing them with new, high-performance aftermarket speakers will pep up the sound in your Pathfinder's stereo system. A step-by-step approach and some basic tools will get the job done.

Instructions

    • 1

Pry carefully around the edges of the trim ring that surrounds the door release with a panel tool. Remove the ring when it's loose.

    • 2

Pry out the screw covers below the arm rest and from the bottom of the door pull. Remove the Phillips-head screws located behind them with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

    • 3

Pry up on the back of the power switch panel in the armrest and push it forward. Lift the panel and disconnect the plug on the back by pulling it off. Take out two Phillips-head screws exposed by the panel removal.

    • 4

Pry around the bottom and side edges of the door panel with your panel tool to release the clips holding it in place. Lift the panel up and off of the door.

    • 5

Remove the four Phillips-head screws holding the speaker in place. Take the speaker out of the cavity, unplug the connector on the back and remove the speaker.

    • 6

Plug your new speaker into the wiring plug, insert it into the door and screw it in place.

    • 7

Repeat the previous steps for the other rear door. Test the speakers, then reassemble the door panels by reversing the steps.
