How to Make Christmas Topiary Trees
Christmas topiaries are not only easy to make, they make a big impact as decorations. A set of identical topiaries could frame a front door or walk while a bunch of eclectic topiaries of different types and sizes might sit in different places all over the house. There are no set rules for decorating topiaries---just follow your instincts. Does this Spark an idea?

1
Strip the tree branches of twigs and leaves. Each branch should be about 5 feet long and an inch thick; the shape doesn't matter. In fact, the more twisted and textured, the better.
-
2
Bundle the branches together and tie them securely with raffia twine. Hot glue the branches together where they touch for added security. Fill your terra cotta pot about half full of sand and sink the branches into the center. Pour large gravel around the branches; adjust the branches so they stand straight and pour in more sand so it fills the spaces between the gravel.

3
Push the foam sphere down onto the tops of the branches. Cover the ball mostly with faux pine lengths and holly clusters, using U-shaped pins to secure loose pieces. This serves as the base for the rest of your decorations.
-
4
Fill in open spaces with mini pinecones and tiny fake birds on wires. Tie ribbons into bows and use them and some tiny, shiny bells to polish the overall look.
