Change the date on a computer running Solaris 8.

Solaris is a Unix operating system, created by Sun Microsystems, that was released as a successor to SunOS. Version 8 was released in 2000 and will continue to receive support until 2012. Most people running Solaris 8 use the NTP (network time protocol) to keep their system time in sync. If you are not running NTP, however, you can change your system time and date manually.

Instructions

    • 1

Connect to your Solaris 8 server by using Telnet or SSH.

    • 2

Log in using the root user account.

    • 3

Enter the date command: "#date" (without quotes). Leave a space, then enter the new date and time in this format: "mmddhhmmyy." The correct order is month, day, hour, minute and year.

    • 4

Hit "Enter" after typing in the new date and time to update them. Log out of your Solaris 8 server.
