How to Build a House Out of Popsicle Sticks & Rubber Bands
Popsicle sticks are one of the most versatile craft materials available, and can be used to create a wide array of projects. One such project is a popsicle stick dwelling. You can create a popsicle stick house out of simple materials, such as popsicle sticks, rubber bands and glue. Your popsicle stick house can be used to teach children about frontier houses, can be used for play or can be decorated and displayed during the holidays.

1
Cover the surface of a 6-inch by 6-inch cardboard square with craft glue.
-
2
Line up six popsicle sticks onto the cardboard. This will be the base of the house.
-
-
3
Cover the two popsicle sticks on each end with glue.
-
4
Place two popsicle sticks onto the glued sticks, standing up on their edges. Hold the sticks in place until the glue has dried. This will be the first layer.
-
5
Place two more popsicle sticks perpendicularly on top of the first layer. Slide the sticks down until there is one stick on each end. There will be four overlapping edges. Tie a rubber band around each corner, securing the edges. This will be the second layer.
-
6
Continue adding layers, tying each of the corners with rubber bands to secure them. Set the house to the side.
-
7
Glue six popsicle sticks together, edge to edge. Hold each piece in place until it dries. Repeat this until you have two roof sections.
-
8
Place the two roof sections on top of the popsicle house, and glue the roof together at the top seam. Hold the seam in place until it dries. You can now display your popsicle and rubber band house.
