How to Change Speakers With an Infinity System Amp

How to Change Speakers With an Infinity System Amp thumbnail
An amplifier provides power to car speakers.

Changing car speakers can be a quick and easy task to accomplish. Speakers use speaker wire to connect to the main stereo unit of a car or to a car's amplifier. This amplifier provides the necessary power and the signal to generate sounds. Prior to changing speakers, always make sure that your car and car stereo are turned off. Always swap out the speakers with a comparable speaker. If the power of the amplifier is too high or too low, it may damage the new speakers. Changing car speakers, depending on where the speakers are located, can take between 10 minutes and 30 minutes per speaker.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the car speakers connected to the Infinity amplifier. Speakers can be located in the dashboard, doors, roof or the rear deck of the car. The rear deck is the area located beneath the rear window of cars. Remove the grille or any protective cover from these speakers.

    • 2

Remove the speakers from their mount. Speakers are almost always held in place by several screws. Simply unscrew these screws and pull the speakers out of the mount.

    • 3

Disconnect the speaker wire from the old speakers. The speaker wire connects the speaker to the Infinity amplifier. Remove the old speaker and replace with a speaker of the same size. Speaker mounts are only designed to accommodate one particular speaker size. Reattach the speaker wires to the new speaker.

    • 4

Mount the new speaker in the speaker mount and fasten it with the screws that were removed earlier. Recover the speaker with the speaker grille or protective cover.
