More and more places are adding free Wi-Fi to attract customers. Coffee shops, restaurants, grocery stores and even parks may provide you with free Wi-Fi. You can take your laptop or other portable devices like the iPad to these areas and surf the web. Finding free Wi-Fi can be difficult in small cities or towns. However, there are resources that may help you in finding the nearest Wi-Fi.

Check out "Wi-Fi FreeSpot" (see References). This website allows you to select by state and city. It lists coffee shops, pizzerias, hotels, libraries and much more. It even lists RV parks and campgrounds/picnic spots that offer free Wi-Fi. You do not need to download any additional software to use this service.

Check out "Open WiFi Spots" (See References). It lets you search by address, city, state or zip code. It also shows you a Google map to help you navigate to the free Wi-Fi spot. You can refine your search results by hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, airports, parks and much more. It gives you details for each and every spot including address and telephone numbers.

Check out JiWire's "Wi-fi Finder" (see References). This website lets you search by address, city, state or zip code. This also shows results on Google maps. It lists both free as well as paid Wi-Fi spots. If you own an iPhone or a IPod Touch, you can even download their free application to get faster access.
